Sophia Martel

Biography: At 3 years old, Sophia began playing soccer with the YMCA. She started competitive travel soccer at age 9 with a bronze-level team before moving up to gold and then premier. Looking for a greater challenge, she joined PV where she found a close group of players with strong chemistry and a love for soccer. Sophia believes her time management is her greatest strength as a student-athlete because she is able to balance training, school, and managing her teams social media page without compromising any of them. Her ability to outpace opponents and be clinical while finishing is a marvelous asset to her team. Sophia is striving to play at a collegiate level because she wants to pursue a good education while competing against top athletes. Sophia’s passion is soccer and wants to take her soccer career as far as possible.

• Varsity Soccer 2021-2022 @ Soledad High School
  • PCAL top goal scorer (2nd most in PCAL history, 51 goals)
  • Rebroke personal record for goals in single game (8 goals)
  • 2nd in the nation for goals per game during preseason (4 goals per game)
  • PCAL All-League MVP
  • PCAL All-League 1st team
  • MaxPreps Player of the week (Dec. 13-19)
  • Broke school record for most goals in a season (previous record 48 goals; Sophia scored 51)
